When Channel 5 relaunched the classic 70s and 80s sports show Superstars, we emphasised its old school heritage with a Track & Field-style arcade game, built by games designer and animator Nick Gripton.

Superpixels allowed players to take part in three events from the show: a 100m dash, a wall climb and squat thrusts. 

Blocky graphics and keyboard-bashing gameplay were designed to evoke the era of games like Daley Thompson’s Decathlon – we even included an 8-bit remix of the iconic Superstars theme.
